At 08:24 this morning, Georgetown Fire Company was dispatched to a working residential structure fire at 209 East Market St. While enroute, Fire Chief Mark Rogers was advised of the possibility of residents trapped on the upper floor of the structure. Chief Rogers immediately ordered Rescue operations to begin. Minutes later while conducting rescue operations, firefighters found two residents. The residents were swiftly removed from the building and lifesaving efforts were administered by EMS, and transported to area hospitals. The Officers and Members of Georgetown Fire Company are deeply grateful for the efforts and support of all our neighboring Fire Companies who responded, along with Georgetown EMS, Georgetown Police Department, the Administration and employees of the Town of Georgetown, Sussex County EOC and Sussex County Paramedics.
