On Wednesday, April 13th, every department in Sussex County including several Maryland Fire Companies was called to assist the Millsboro Fire Company with a large Woods Fire. The Fire swept across over 200 acres rapidly and threatened several homes. Trooper 2 assisted with the size up of the blaze and advised Millsboro Command to place a fire block downwind of the fire. Units began setting up around structures and established water supplies then waited for the fire to reach them. The Sussex County Emergency Operations Center sent out their Mobile Command Unit to assist with the Coordination of the incident and the Sussex County Paramedics established several rehab areas. The fire companies were also assisted by Blackwater, Maryland, and Delaware Forestry units which provided bulldozers and specially trained personnel.
