Aircraft Emergency - Sussex County Airpark

Station 77, Ambulance 93, Ambulance 85, Trooper 2, and Sussex County EMS were alerted for an aircraft emergency at the Sussex County Airpark. Units responding were advised that a Piper Cub Aircraft had struck a bird in flight and that it's left landing gear would not lock. Trooper 2 and Rescue-77 lit up the runway for the plane to perform fly-bys to determine whether the gear was down or up. It was determined by the pilot and ground crews that he would attempt to land the plane with gear down. The pilot landed the plane safely and all units returned. Units Responding: 77-CMD, 77-0, 77-2, Rescue-77, Tanker-77, 77-9, Foam Cart, Amb-93, Amb-85, Medic 103, EMS-200, Trooper-2.
