Motor Vehicle Accident with Extrication - Old Furnace Rd. & County Seat Hwy.

On October 20th, 2004, the Georgetown Fire Company was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Old Furnace Road and County Seat Highway, about 1 mile East of Sussex Tech High School. Command 77 responded to the scene with Deputy Chief Dennis Swain. Upon arrival, Command advised dispatch that extrication of a patient was needed. 77-0 arrived with 1st Assistant Chief Penuel Barrett, who was designated as extrication officer. In addition, his crew stabilized the vehicle and assisted EMS. Rescue 77 arrived shortly thereafter and the crew was advised to prepare for extracition. Past Chief William Bradley used the Hydraulic tool to remove the driver's door. Two patients were transported by ground to Naticoke Hospital by Ambulances from Georgetown EMS and Blades Fire Company.
